Snapshots

Post by oink »

Just a minor comment regarding anatomist's ability to save snapshot images: existing images are overwritten without a warning.

Cheers,

yes.
I know...
Globally, anatomist doesn't ask confirmation on any save/quit action, which is bad.
However for the snapshot feature, I don't really know which behaviour is best. For a single snaphot, OK you're right, a confirmation should be asked. But in record mode, we cannot open a popup on each image Anatomist produces (it may be 50 times per second or more), so, what should we do ?

It could be possible to check once for the files that could be deleted by saving snapshot(s) and warn the user with the file name(s) (or the number of files if there is too many).

If you have a way to know whether you are in record mode or not, then, when not in record mode, ask the user, and when in record mode, do not write the image. Actually, since the sequence is broken, you might as well stop recording at that point and warn the user that recording failed because of that.

If you don't have a way to know whether you are in record mode or not, it's more complicated. Maybe when issuing a warning, you may spot the presence of another warning window, and deduce from there that you are in record mode and take the appropriate decision (like those suggested above).

Cheers,

Pascal
