Hello,
I am Zoltan Karpati the Creator of 3D Object Converter for Windows.
It is a polygon based 3d object file format converter program and it is supports 388 file formats !
I would like to support the BrainVISA binary .tri file format but I don't know where I can found any samples and the file format doc ?
I added the
- BrainVISA ASCII .tri (load / save)
- BrainVISA ASCII .mesh (save)
- BrainVISA Binary .mesh (load / save)
file formats to my program (development version yet).
Program: http://web.axelero.hu/karpo/3dc32320x_dev_20050118.zip
Samples: http://web.axelero.hu/karpo/chrmface.zip
Regards,
Zoltan

Hi Zoltan,
Your converter is an impressive and interesting software... I've never seen such a list of formats. Does (or will) it work on other platforms than Windows ?
Actually the .tri format is obsolete and we never use it to write new meshes, it still exists for compatibility with old data. That's one of the reasons why there is no doc on it on our website. It was an ASCII-only format (no binary mode), which is one of its multiple limitations that lead us to move to the .mesh format...
If I have understand, you have already figured out how the ASCII .tri format is, but if you need more information, just ask us. And so, that's it, there is nothing else.
3D Object Converter could perhaps be optionally used by BrainVisa to convert to and from external mesh formats: our programs are not very open to the outside world for meshes (there's only a .pov writer but no reader)...
Have you looked at other medical imaging formats ?
Denis

I would like to inform you that I ported the 3D Object Converter for Windows application under the Mac OS X system (called i3DConverter):
