Where can I find an example showing one of the hemispheres completly labeled with brainVISA nomenclature and the corresponding legend (with the complete names of the abreviations)?

Really would help! Thanks, nat

Well, we don't have an example of it on the web right now, sorry. We can consider doing it, yes, it's a good idea. The problem is that a single example is not enough to show all situations...
In the meantime, you can find a labelled snaphot of the external face in the documentation of the cortical sulci recognition process in brainvisa (anatomy/morphometry/automatic recognition). And if you can read french, other images (with all faces) can be found in my PhD: see the publications section of the website.

labels

Our lab is also trying to work out the naming conventions. Is there a master list or some other legend that matches the BV labels to the "long" name of the anatomical structures ?
:?

Many thanks,
Jason

Maybe a temporary solution before we find time to put a couple of labelled hemisphere on the web site: Could someone scan the nomenclature pages of the MD thesis of Jean Regis and post them on the forum? I think most of the short names we use are defined there relatively to standard nomenclature. Unfortunately, all the prints of his thesis have disappeared from Orsay during the last years...

I think there is a table with the full names (in french) in my PhD (in the results section), which was taken from Jean Regis's thesis. Of course it's not as good as the original, but at least it's on the web in the publicaitons section of the web site.
I agree we'll have to make a translation of this nomenclature, one day...

or you can use this book

Ono M, Kubik S, Abernathey C. "Atlas of the Cerebral Sulci". New York: Thieme Medical Publishers, 1990.

Problems with Ono and BV nomenclature

Post by jcraggs »

FYI:
Although I cannot recall the exact location of the error, we recently identified an error in one of the plates of the Ono atlas. In that case the images/hemispheres were inverted/mirrorred.

Additionally, the nomenclature in Ono does not correspond 1-to-1 to the Ono atlas.

Best,
Jason

Hi,
Or if you like I can put it somewhere on the website. I'll tell where you can send it to me.
